I have always had a fascination/longing to find a home and I wanted to in cooperate this into my work. My home life was pretty turbulent as a child and so finding a home has always been my priority, I even moved hundreds of miles away to France, searching and eventually finding it. The pandemic over the past year has meant I haven't been able to fly back to the UK and see my family, something that has affected me more than I believed it would. These paintings are a visual representation f the struggle, with a lot of darkness over the past year there has also been hope, hope that one day I'll be able visit my first 'home' soon.
Stories of ships lost at sea, my own struggles, stormy nights were all you can hear is the wind howling and the roar of the sea. Odysseus trying to make his way home to his beloved Penelope, journeys taken over seas and lighthouses guiding you back to shore. That's the inspiration for my newest collection, home, and finding your way back.
